201 First Avenue West

A committee of the whole meeting is scheduled for 10 AM Wednesday October 16. Of particular interest is a development proposal presentation from the owner of 201/207/211 First Avenue West that would permit the development of a five story mixed use building with ground floor commercial and residential units above. The commercial portion seems to consist of a medical clinic with 14 examination rooms and a commercial arcade of 3 units. It appears that the building will be 5 storeys on the southside (i.e., First Avenue ) and 6 storeys on the north side due to the slope of the property. 49 total parking stalls are proposed (42 for the 57 residential units; 7 for the clinic). There are none proposed for the commercial arcade units.

Although this is a committee of the whole meeting, there will be no opportunity to speak on this matter as Bill 44 does not allow pubic hearings for zoning amendments that are OCP compliant. Not withstanding the lack of a public forum on this matter, you may wish to attend the meeting in any event.
